Step 1: Upload the Files

Download and extract the discord_connect.zip file. Upload the discord_connect folder to the following directory in your Blesta installation: 
/plugins/

Step 2: Run the Installer

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to your Blesta admin panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Plugins → Available.
  3. Click Install next to Discord Connect.

Step 3: Discord Application Setup

A Discord Application and Bot are required for OAuth and role assignment.
  1. Visit the Discord Developer Portal.
  2. Click New Application and give it a name.
  3. Navigate to OAuth2 → General.
  4. Add the following Redirect URI: 
    https://yourdomain.com/plugin/discord_connect/client_main/callback/
  5. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
  6. Go to the Bot section and click Add Bot.
  7. Copy the Bot Token.
  8. Under Privileged Gateway Intents, enable:
    • Server Members Intent
    • Message Content Intent (optional)

Bot Permissions

Your Discord bot must have the following permissions in your server:
  • Manage Roles
  • View Channels
Important: The bot’s role must be positioned above any roles it is expected to assign.

Plugin Configuration

Once installed:
  1. Go to Settings → Plugins → Installed → Discord Connect → Manage.
  2. Enter the following details:
    • License Key (from LonexLabs)
    • Discord Client ID
    • Discord Client Secret
    • Discord Bot Token
    • Discord Guild ID
    • Customer Role ID
To obtain IDs in Discord, enable Developer Mode, then right-click the server or role and select Copy ID.
  1. Configure optional settings:
    • Allow Discord Login
    • Require Email Match (Discord email must match Blesta account email)
Save your changes once complete.

Template Customisation

To display the “Login with Discord” button on the Blesta login page, a small template modification is required. This change must be applied to the active client theme, as Blesta does not inject login buttons automatically. Edit the following file in your Blesta installation: 
/app/views/client/bootstrap/client_login.pdt
If you are using a custom or non-bootstrap theme, locate the equivalent client_login.pdt file within that theme’s directory.
Insert the following code where you would like the button to appear on the login page (typically below the standard login button - around line 56):

  • The button uses Discord’s official brand colour (#5865F2)
  • Font Awesome is required for the Discord icon (fab fa-discord)
  • You may adjust classes or styling to match your theme’s design

Important Considerations

  • Template changes may be overwritten during Blesta updates
  • Always back up your theme files before making changes
  • If Discord login is disabled in plugin settings, the button will still appear but will not function
